Who's dreaming of a white Christmas??? Not me!

I woke up today to SNOW, sleet, and about 40-50 mph winds!!!! All of those that were dreaming of a white Christmas got their wish! It should be done later this evening and hopefully they will plow the roads so we can get out tomorrow! Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

It's been snowing all day so here's some updates. Hope they plow the roads good and get some salt down. I can't stay in the house for another day!!

6 months and Christmas Toys

Six months ago today, we tied the knot. It's gone by so fast, I really can't believe it. We've had a lot of fun, although the first couple months were pretty rough. Many adjustments, compromising, and learning about each other. It's weird how much more you learn about someone after you get married! All the things I didn't know, or maybe I didn't realize them. I didn't think I could love Alan more than when we got married, but the last few weeks I have felt more love for him than ever. I love Brad Paisley's song..."I thought I loved you then" (well I guess some of that doesn't apply, haha) but it's really true. Anyway, I can't wait to see what the next 6 months and years ahead have in store for us.

This Christmas we are sponsoring 2 kids ( a 1 yr old girl, and 2 yr old boy) through DHS and buying gifts off their "wish list". I can't wait to buy their little toys! Too bad we can't see them open them and their reaction! I feel bad that these kids are in foster homes and have parents who don't love them (or love them enough to do what's right) and won't get Christmas presents. I can't imagine as a child, going through what some of them have to go through and the lives they have. Now that I'm older, I realize more that Christmas really is about giving and not receiving. I hope they enjoy their toys and Christmas....

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween!!!!!!! This year I decided to get a pumpkin carving kit instead of making my own face and it was a success! It was pretty easy (unlike I thought it would be), and it turned out pretty good. It's a scary haunted house. This year it is so warm, I'm jealous. When I was a kid, it was always freezing and I can remember it even snowing (this was in Illinois)! We always had to wear coats over our costumes, and you couldn't even see them!
My friend Alisha brought her little boy, Hayden, over to trick or treat. This year he was a dragon, and he is so dang cute!

Last year, if you said to Hayden (when he was 1 yr old), "What does a ghost say?" He would answer "Boo!!!" So I had bought this flying ghost that made a scary noise and we showed it to Hayden and told him it was a ghost. Well, he didn't like this ghost at all! He SCREAMED!!! So we showed it to him this year, and he hated it again!! It scared him! Here he is running away from it. Poor kid. Maybe next year :)

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!

OU-Texas Weekend

This year Alan and I got tickets to OU-Texas. Neither one of us had ever gone so we were pretty excited to go. We had a blast. Alan was a little upset of the outcome of the game, however I was not....Hook 'em horns!! We drove down late Friday night and stayed with a friend. At 130 am I got a call from our house alarm company saying our alarm was going off b/c the motion sensor had been activated! I panicked and thought someone had broke in somehow and bypassed the door and window alarms! I called my mom and told her to go over there and let the police in. Well they found nothing (thank God) and the police thinks the motion sensor is malfunctioning. It took the police over 20 mins to get over there. My mom drove there in 15. What good would they have been if someone really did break in or if we were there. We could have been killed and they would have been long gone. I was really irritated about that. So we didn't go back to sleep till after 230 and had to get up super early to get to the game in time. Where we stayed was only 20 miles to the stadium, and it took us 2 hours to get there and parked. Traffic was fine till right by downtown Dallas. That's what took most of our time. Driving we saw this funny Longhorn vehicle. Its horn even played the Texas song.
The big D

The Cotton Bowl Stadium is inside the Texas State Fair. Our seats were at the very top with only a railing behind us. I am terrified of heights and was beside myself the entire game. I couldn't relax knowing I was that high up. Alan was standing on the bleacher leaning against that dang railing!
That's a long way down!

I got stuck driving (again) and here's Alan passed out after the game while I'm stuck sitting in traffic!

New TV

Alan and I are slowly getting caught up with the rest of the world and this TV thing!! We replaced my old 19" TV in our bedroom that I got when I think I was 16 or 17 with a nice 32" flat screen! The TV worked fine and wasn't bad, but the remote was starting to fall apart (which I could have easily replaced for about 10 bucks), and it is hard to see from our bed. It looked even smaller. I'm not sure how I pulled this one off, but Alan was playing softball all day and I took a break from studying and went to Sam's and happen to see this TV. It's a Vizio and we have friends that have liked theirs so I called Alan and mentioned this TV. Much to my surprise he said "sure get it". WTH???? Mr. Tightwad NEVER says anything like that! He will look and window shop for something that only cost $30.00 for months and months! Next will be the living room TV, but were hoping to find a Christmas sale on that one. He wants a 47 or 52" so that will be much more than this one!

Far away view from our bed

Aaaahhhhhh, much better!

Weekend wtih cousin...

This last weekend my cousin, Leah, came to visit for a few days from Minnesota. We had such a good time. We did massages, lots of food (of course), we went to 2 wineries to do wine tasting, and then to Arbuckle Wilderness. There are lots of pictures from Arbuckle Wilderness but it was so much fun. Arbuckle Wilderness is a drive through zoo. They have all kinds of animals. And they just come right up to your car and eat! If you have kids, definitely a great place to take them. We even drug my mom along and she had a blast. Those animals are so funny. They're nice for being wild, but a little too hungry. This is there off season so there really wasn't anyone else there so they were starving!!

Here's the food for the animals. We got like 7 of these things and still could have used more!
He's cute, in a funny way!

The camels. We got them to our car after a while, then we almost wished we wouldn't have....annoying! At one point all 3 had their heads in the car and we had to throw food away and start to drive off b/c they wouldn't get out!

Here they're all coming in!!!!!
The Donkeys. They would open their mouths like this and you'd just drop food in. They were so cute and friendly.

The one on the right is a baby!
These things were fighting/playing and we had to drive off the road and go around b/c they wouldn't move!
The Zebras wouldn't come to the car :(
Deer
Not sure what this is!
OUR FAVORITE....THE GIRAFFES!!!!
Look at their tongue. Alan says they are like a foot long! They feel like sand paper.

Not sure why he was licking this bar!

Have you ever looked at an Ostrage's eye??? They're creepy!
American Bison, I think.

Cute little goats

We went to 2 wineries. One in Bristow and one in Okemah. These pics are from the one in Okemah, called the Grape Ranch. They have this fabulous frozen wine, you freeze it and then put in in a blender when it starts to thaw and it's like a slushy. It's soooo good! I've never seen it before but it's really good.
